On October 24 Chornobyl NPP staff participated in the plant civil protection drill on evacuation in case of fire. The scheduled activities took place involving outside organizations and were aimed at checking emergency preparedness of personnel and facility emergency departments and organizations.

According to the Head of ChNPP Emergency Preparedness and Response Department, Dmytro Kondratov, the drill was not ordinary as it involved all resources and capabilities of Chornobyl NPP, fire-fighting brigades of both the plant and the Chornobyl Exclusion zone, and also representatives of the Military unit 3041, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Field Office in Kyiv region and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.

Creation of an absolutely new mock-up of Chornobyl NPP industrial site is underway in one of the premises at the 3rd floor of ChNPP Administrative Building. The project was started 2 years ago and now it is at the final stage.

Initially, the mock-up makers planned just to renovate the old Plant’s mock-up, located in the Mock-up Hall in the Administrative Building. Of course, this mock-up had its zest - it showed how the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant would have looked like if the accident not occurred: with the completed third stage Units, with a full-flowing pond, two cooling towers and without the Shelter object and NSC Arch. However, by the time of the renovation beginning, he had served for 30 years, dilapidated and morally and physically obsolete. After examining all the pros and cons, the authors abandoned the idea of renovation in favor of creating a fundamentally new mock-up, reflecting a modern status of ChNPP and providing opportunities for interactivity.

Today we are the first NPP at the site of which the alternative energy is being generated. I believe that this is very positive that electrical capacities are present at the Plant again, and they are in commercial production – electrical energy is being produced,” – mentioned Mr. Seyda in the course of the celebrations on the occasion of opening the SPP.
